2nd semifinal was virtually conducted, successfully with the announcement of finalist
On August 27 2020, the second semi-finals of National Level Open Debate Competition were held and organized by Green Commando Earth. There was a total competition between 8 contestants among which 4 contestants entered for final. The Judge panel for the day was Abhishek Khadka (food Scientist), Mega Bajaj (Environmentalist), Prashant Adhikari (Environmental Conservationist). The debate session was held on the topic of Environment and Agriculture & Food.
The program was started by moderator Barsha Raut guided by Sita Basyal and Yalina Thapa. It was formally started by National-Anthem. The short video was played introducing all supporting partner followed by introducing all the judge panel for the day, Abhishek Khadka, Mega Bajaj, Prashant Adhikari.
The moderator welcomed all the 8 finalist and participants introducing house-keeping rules. Moving forward Yalina Thapa called upon the finalist to debate on the topic related to environment and agriculture and health highlighting the major issues.
In the first phase, the topic was on Environment were 4 contestants gave their strong arguments, emphasizing the facts that plastic has caused very serious impacts on the marine ecosystem were opponent strongly argue showing the convenient of plastic bag.
In the second phase the debater’s debate on the agriculture and food topic giving their views on the organic and chemical fertilizers, highlighting the issues of corona pandemic where Samartha Jha strongly said that “eating chemical fertilizer’s food has a strong impact on the immune system” was another opponent strongly argue by saying the right combination of NPK fertilizer help more in production.
After that, remarks and feedback were given by the judging panel and also the supporting partners. They thanked and wished a stroke of good luck for further programs. The Judge request to use more evidence and highlighted for the biodegradable plastic.
Following that the 4 finalists Sambriddhi Dev, Subhekchhya Aryal, Indira Neupane, Samartha Jha were announced by Srijana. At last, the vote of thanks and closing remarks was given by Ashish Lamichhane, Program Head.

Green Commando Earth (GCE) is a team of motivated Nepalese youths and enthusiasts looking for contributing their effort and time to develop skills to undertake training and contribute to the conservation of the planet.
Green Commando Earth carries out campaigns to school, college, and community level to aware the all the age groups about the importance of environment and enlightening about various measures of recreating and conserving the environment.
GCE focuses on youths of different sectors and is actively involved in reaching the local grass-root level and implanting resilient and environment-friendly mindset on young people.
GCE organizes different programs to help youths and teenagers to understand the issues, concerns & global scenarios on environment conservation. GCE focus on nurturing the youth by conducting leadership based and skill-based programs.
GCE conducted different webinars targeted to youths during the recent period. GCE has been actively involved in the protest of Nijgadh airport. Moreover, GCE organized a campaign named “म र मेरो कौशी खेती ” with the motive of encouragement of kitchen garden and participation of youths in it.
With the beginning of the project from a table discussion, GCE has reached different cities across Nepal. GCE head team has 11 different chapters; namely: Kathmandu, Illam, Bardibas, Sindhuli, Hetauda, Chitwan, Pokhara, Rupendehi, Dang, Surkhet, Tikapur and Baitadi and includes 170+ actively working Executive Members and General Members.
